Artist: Helle Bovbjerg

Helle Bovbjerg, DENMARK

Helle Bovbjerg lives and works on the west ridge of the peninsula Jylland, in the village Lysgaard South of Viborg since 1993. With role models in the English pottery, she went early on the road to ceramics. Aarhus Art Academy of
fine arts, founded the base before she was educated at the Design School Kolding 1990. Her first studio after ended education was at the studio: Sct. Paul Ceramics in Aarhus, together with the colleagues; Trine Bach and Barbro Aaberg.
Artist in residence stay at: Svanekegaarden, Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada, and International Ceramics Studio, Hungary, has been essential for her ceramic development. She has been inspired by the British artist Ben Nicolson, which influences is evident in her abstract sense of form and expression. Her deep love and interest in architecture and industrial harbors also make a big impact on her
ceramics. Interaction and dialogue with other scientist, theorists and artists has also been a great inspiration for some of her work during the last 10 years at the Refugio Klitgaarden at the tip of Denmark, Skagen. This is where she has focused on and developed her harbor-based ideas. Since 2006, Helle Bovbjerg has been a guest lecture at Skals School of Arts and Crafts. In 2012 she
performed her first major outdoor wall mural for a brand new institution and building in Aarhus. 2013 She was nominated as “Artist of the Year” in the family and employment management in the municipality of Aalborg. She has received grants from the National Bank of Demark and the State Art foundation. She has exhibited in countries such as Denmark, Holland, Germany, Sweden, Norway,
