The work I create reflects my strong love of place; where I grew up, where I am now, and recent places I have visited.
Through the use of porcelain clay I am able to create beautiful light and depth. Trees, flowers and birds are painted and/or silk-screened on the vessels using a variety of slips and underglazes. Sometimes I will carve textures similar to tree bark on the surface of the clay.
In some of my work I place LED lights into the sculptural forms to further enhance the transparency of the porcelain.
