This cherished, one-of-a-kind piece was displayed in a private collection in our very own Iowa City, Iowa. Pieces in this collection were originally acquired from the artists, from ClayAKAR, or from other galleries. Any pieces that have been in use are in excellent condition unless otherwise noted.
Wally and Karen Chappell started collecting pottery from the time they were first married --- shapes and glazes that we were drawn to and beautiful things that could be displayed or used in our daily lives. Teapots and teacups became favorite things to collect. We have collected while traveling all over the world but one of our favorite places to find things we love has been AKAR here in Iowa City.
In retirement, Karen, herself, started working in clay, creating pottery pieces while living in New York City. She is particularly interested in experimenting with shapes and glazes.
