What is CLAYAKAR?

AKAR in Sanskrit means forms and shapes, therefore the new name CLAYAKAR for this website focusing on forms made in Clay. 

History  

AKAR was established in 1998 by Sanjay and Jigna Jani,  both  architects with a passion for ceramics. Art, architecture and designed converged in one location, both at a brick and mortar and an online store  for many years. 

Do I need to create an account?

Creating and account is optional, but quick and easy. Checkout will be quicker since the account will prefill your billing and shipping address on subsequent orders and allow easy access to your order history, status and shipping updates. 

"Add to Cart" button not responding?

Occasionally on opening sales day, due to increased traffic on the website, the "Add to Cart" button is not responsive. To try and fix this problem we suggest attempting to open the website in a different web browser i.e. chrome or mozilla. During business hours you can always place your order with an in-store sales associate over the phone (319) 351-1227.

What are my payment options?

We accept payment through all major Credit cards, Paypal and Check. 

Do you ship outside of the United States?

We are now able to accept international orders. After your shipping address is entered, our cart will reserve your order with a tentative shipping fee of $25.00 We will contact you within 48 hours with shipping options and estimates to help you finalize the order. Tentative shipping fees will be adjusted or credited based on the shipping options chosen. 
What is your privacy policy?
We do not share or sell any personal information. All information is for the exclusive use of AKAR and is kept private at all times.

Can I purchase a gift certificate?

At this time, we do not offer any gift certificates, but it is on our list of future updates for the website. 

Will I receive an email confirmation?

Yes. We will send you an email confirmation  when we receive your order and when it is on its way to you. 

How do I report damaged items?

If your shipment arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible at contact@clayakar.com. We insure all packages and submit the claims. Please keep all the original boxes, packaging material and damaged item(s) until the claim process is completed. 

What is your return policy?

Please contact us at 319.351.1227 or contact@clayakar.com and return the items within 14 days.  Items must be returned in original unused condition and according to our packaging guidelines. Shipping and handling costs are non refundable. Return your package to: AKAR, 257 Iowa Avenue, Iowa City, IA 52240. We will notify you by email once we have received and processed your returned item(s).

Can I cancel my order?

Yes, as long as it has not shipped yet. Please contact us at 319.351.1227 or contact@claygallery.com as soon as possible. 

Would you like to pick up your order at our store?

Before proceeding to the check out, click "View Cart" and scroll to the bottom. On the right will be a box with a "Free Local Pickup" option. Also, all customers residing in Iowa will have a "Free Local Pickup" option in the shipping method section. If you wish to pick up in-store and you do not live in Iowa, please call us at 319.351.1227 to complete your order.
