Shikha Joshi is a studio potter based in Round Rock, Texas. Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Joshi learned ceramics through community classes and workshops after moving to the US in 1998. Not having had a formal education in ceramics, she spends long hours in the studio, experimenting, pushing boundaries and learning what the ceramic materials would teach her. Joshi is passionate about creating surface variation within the constraints of an electric kiln and has taught numerous workshops nationally as well as online to share her knowledge with others.
 
About the work in this show:
This body of work chronicles my explorations of surface variation within the constraints of an electric kiln. From rustic tea bowls to refined glaze ware, abstract brushwork to the distinct smoke marked surfaces of saggar fired pieces, this work is an attempt to showcase the versatility of cone 6 oxidation firing which has been the cornerstone of my creative process.
