Joseph Pintz is a ceramic artist based in Columbia, Missouri, where he is Professor of Art and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Missouri. Known for his hand-built earthenware, Pintz creates functional and sculptural forms inspired by utilitarian objects, domestic life, and his Midwestern roots.
He earned his BA in Anthropology and Urban Studies from Northwestern University and his MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His distinguished career includes residencies at the Archie Bray Foundation, Northern Clay Center, and Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program, as well as recognition as an NCECA Emerging Artist.
For his first Solo Show at ClayAKAR, Pintz presents a selection of signature wares alongside new variations that extend and explore these familiar forms.
