ARTIST STATEMENT
I create design-inspired functional pottery. Melding form and surface design, my pieces create a visual and tactile experience that reimagines function. I work in a variety of techniques including throwing on the wheel, slab, extruding and slip casting, usually in combination. The paper-like porcelain surfaces are the backdrop for color and pattern explorations. I am interested in developing a material language that can evoke emotions, calling to mind associations of confetti, candy and games. These marks of celebration invoke an attitude of enjoyment for the present moment.
