I have a background in Painting, but my primary work is Ceramic. I make work that is porcelain-based and usually oxidation-fired at cone 6, however I also have an interest in high-fire glaze work. My ceramics is mainly functional-ware but I endeavor to work in ceramic sculpture, with combinations of hand-building and slip casting using plaster molds. Aesthetically I am influenced by Asian art & motifs, especially the prints, colors, and designs found on the traditional and seasonal kimonos of Japan. My work’s themes include exploration of femininity, sexuality, and finding my own definition of beauty.
