In May of 2018, Andrew was recognized as one of Ceramic Monthly’s Emerging Artists. He has received numerous awards including Best in Show for “Twin Cups” (2017) and “Delectable” (2018). His is represented nationally and internationally including Charlie Cummings Gallery, Cerbera Gallery, Gandee Gallery and Treehouse Gallery. Andrew is currently working as the Ceramics Technician and Instructor at The University of Mississippi.

My goal as a potter is to make ceramic objects that move in and out of someone’s home and everyday life that will enhance their experiences of intimacy, consumption, and nourishment. I strive to create purposeful, beautiful, well-crafted handmade pots. Reflecting on my past of southern culture, I find that community and relationships created at the table are the foundation for my work. By making handmade utilitarian objects, I hope to develop a unique trust and relationship between maker and user. Inspiration for my work comes from aspects of nature and architecture through structure, volume, movement and repetition of lines. My interpretation combines these elements to balance the function of utility and beauty. Repetitive textures and lines create patterns that suggest marks revealed in the natural landscape. The movement and design
within my forms reference both the structure and curvature I see in architecture. My intent is to invite the viewer to look closer at my pots, which will engage a unique visual and tactile interaction.
