My work is a result of universal coping mechanisms manifested during times of humility, humor, trauma, and contradiction. Overindulgence is a common theme in my work, expressed with junk foods and over-the-top embellishments. I often utilize the “more is more” approach with colorful sprinkles, clusters of blooming flowers, various meats, or whatever makes sense for a particular piece. With my ceramic work I aim to celebrate the mundane. Whether that be through a relatable mug, a highly decorative cake stand, or an oddly adorable sculpture, I hope to elevate and bring joy to the everyday experience.

Ashley Bevington (b. 1990) grew up in Holmes County, Ohio. Bevington received her BFA from Columbus College of Art & Design in 2014, & her MFA from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2017. She’s participated in exhibitions in galleries such as The Clay Studio of Philadelphia, The Erie Art Museum, The Ohio Craft Museum, the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center, & the Oregon College of Art & Craft. Bevington has received numerous awards within her field. She was awarded scholarships to attend Penland School of Crafts, a residency at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, and received the NCECA International Residency Partnership Program award to attend a residency at Medalta Potteries in Alberta, Canada. She received the Mudtools Merit Award in the 2017 NCECA National Student Juried Exhibition. Bevington is currently a ceramics professor with a home studio in Ohio.
