I am drawn to functional pots because of their ability to facilitate connections. Growing up, my family had dinner together every night, bringing us together over food. Using and making pots has become an important aspect of my life, not only because of how I get my sustenance each day, but also because they connect me with people. I am investigating the intimacy and shared connection through the experience of having a curated meal around the table. I intend my work to bring people together over food. The pots are thrown on the wheel before adding a pinched element, showing the maker's mark in the pinched texture, contrasting the smooth thrown surface.
