I have been incising porcelain for forty-five years and I still love doing it as much as when I first started out. For this show I incised some different forms which I enjoyed. My pieces used to only involve the taking away of porcelain from the surface and the form but in the last twelve years I have also begun adding porcelain to create another level and surface dimension. There is something magical about this technique. I love adding images to my porcelain pieces and making them come to life through movement. The final finished incised lines are enhanced by the application of celadon glazes that pool and define the design. I carve for myself first and have been most fortunate that collectors appreciate my work which in turn allows me to explore new ideas.
