Following her formal education at the University of Michigan (BSD) and Eastern
Michigan University (MFA) Gail Kendall spent ten years working as an independent studio artist in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1987 she accepted a position in the Department of Art & Art History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she taught for twenty-four years. Kendall has been a resident artist at c.r.e.t.a.Rome, Spode Fine China Works, S-O-T England, Watershed Center for Ceramic Art, The Archie Bray Foundation, Red Lodge Clay Center, Belger Crane Yard and Anderson Ranch Art Center. Her work has appeared in articles & books including Ceramics: Art and Perception, Neue Keramik, Emmanuel Cooper& Contemporary Ceramics; (UK), MASTERS: Earthenware (US). She exhibits widely throughout the United States. Retired since 2011, Kendall spends her time in Lincoln working in the studio, cooking, practicing the piano and knitting.
