Heidi McKay Casto is a ceramic artist who lives and works in Iowa City, where she teaches throwing at the University of Iowa. She earned a BFA in Ceramics from The Ohio State University, and MA and MFA degrees from The University of Iowa. When at work in her studio, Heidi McKay Designs, she creates functional objects and jewelry from porcelain that feature a variety of playful design elements, animals, and vibrant colors. The work is intended to hold you emotionally while you hold it physically, bringing joy to everyday experiences, and adding beauty, life, and a story to well made objects. The goal is a synchronistic exchange of connection, in which care and beauty are more present in daily life.
