Artist: Heidi Tarver
Heidi Tarver, CALIFORNIA
Heidi Tarver is an artist and garden designer residing in Berkeley and Mendocino, California.
My work over many decades explores the use of geometric design in the creation of two and three-dimensional objects that are visually complex, playful and alluring. I have worked through furniture and jewelry design, as well as collage and paper sculpture, to investigate the structure, scope and limits of geometries that for millennia have captivated and inspired. My influences are many, including Islamic architecture, Spanish tile, American quilt design and the remarkable patterns found in nature. My current work in ceramics explores the application of pattern and vivid color to the creation of functional vessels.
