My work:
I create functional ceramics using translucent porcelain and stoneware for both electric and atmospheric firing. Most of my work involves detailed illustrations, outlining both by Mishima techniques and using underglaze pencils. All images are created spontaneously with what comes to my mind as I begin to illustrate. They’re then meticulously hand painted with underglaze and glaze, gold luster and mother of pearl, going through 4 separate firings until each piece is ready for a new home. It’s a long process which requires time and patience but I enjoy each and every step of it. As much love, joy and happiness I pour into my work, I hope what I create brings the same to many others.
Artist statement:
I strive to bring joy into people’s everyday lives through my ceramics. Creating objects with clay brings me the greatest happiness and I hope to make this happiness evident in my work. Inspired by organic forms and nature I constantly explore with color and materiality to share how I see the world around me.
