Pots are one of the many daily choices we make to build our lives, and I hope to create nudges of humor and delight by having my work in the homes and lives of others. Using imagery of cacti, clouds, and constellations, I think about the myths, categories, and stories we create out of nothing to explain our experiences and surroundings. This cycle of observing, creating, and observing again is what makes us human. I make the work my hands crave, handling the clay at many stages to imbue all the joy I can into each object. My hope is that the energy I generate is carried through the firing and out into the world into kitchen cabinets everywhere.
