ARTIST BIO
From the artist: I was adopted from Vietnam as a baby and raised in the flatlands of Lubbock, Texas. After learning my BFA in Dance from the University of Texas at Austin, I moved to New York City to pursue a career in classical ballet. While living in NYC, I discovered pottery and found a new way to express my creativity. After 16 years of ballet training, I traded my pointe shoes for clay and spent over a decade working as a production potter, honing my skills at the wheel. Today, as a full-time studio potter, I create richly decorated porcelain pottery known for its vibrant surfaces and tactile slip-dot patterns. Applying thousands of dots by hand is a slow, meditative process that brings me immense joy. Looking back, I realize that by following my passions, I have built a life doing what I love.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I create what I like to call “fancy porcelain pottery,” a phrase that reflects both the intricacy and intention behind my work. Using layers of slip decoration, I build detailed, rhythmic surfaces that evolve slowly over time. Each piece is made with a mindful, meditative approach—where repetition, precision, and intuition guide the process. My pots are meant to be experienced both visually and physically. I’m especially drawn to creating tactile surfaces that invite touch—soft raised patterns, subtle textures, and forms that feel balanced and comfortable in the hand. There is a quiet joy in that interaction, a moment of connection between maker, object, and user. I hope my work brings a sense of calm, curiosity, and wonder—offering others the same feeling of discovery and excitement that I experience with every piece that I throw.
