Provide specialized technical support the full-time and part-time ceramics faculty and oversee day to day operation.
Prepare laboratory for instruction and ensure lab is properly stocked and meets safety standards.
Propose ceramics supplies and maintenance for approval by full-time ceramics faculty.
Service, repair, and inspect specialized ceramics equipment for safety and proper operation, including gas kilns, electric kilns, raku kilns, pottery wheels, slab rollers, extruder, pug mill, spray booths.
Install new ceramic equipment as necessary, including kilns.
Fire gas, electric, raku, and wood kilns.
Research and document glaze experiments to develop formulas for color, texture and adherence; maintain, adjust, and evaluate studio glaze performance; test glazes as necessary.
Develop new laboratory glazes as necessary.
Mix laboratory glazes, slips, and oxide washes.
Complete inventory and ordering of all supplies, materials, and equipment.
Receive, store, and organize supplies.
