STATEMENT
My journey to clay was not an easy one. It was not a straightforward path, or a love at first sight. I couldn't comprehend the materials, and was unable to coerce them into a form vaguely resembling what I had imagined. But still, I continued. It wasn't until I discovered a glaze chemistry class, that I immersed myself fully in the medium. Discovering the endless possibilities and challenges with clay is what keeps me interested and engaged in the process.

Each series I create is a continued discovery of ceramics, investigating different ideas in clay, and what they mean to me. The Cloud Series is an exploration that began as a challenge to create an interesting surface using only porcelain and clear glaze. I love to push the glaze to its limits, sometimes until it is dripping right off the piece.

The Pinstripe Series are objects that speak more to the value of utility. Steadfast and useful, each piece is designed with comfort and service in mind, to be a positive addition to our quiet daily rituals. And finally, my atmospherically fired work. A process that wholly consumes my experimental spirit. The forms I make are specifically designed with atmosphere in mind. The texture, ridges, and curves enhance the reception of the wood and soda ash on the piece. To be so profoundly entangled with the process of firing and the nuances of each kiln is a unique and intimate experience that I truly enjoy.
