Growing up in Minnesota everyday I went to my mothers studio that was attached to the house. She would set me down on the floor next to her drawing desk and give me my markers and paper as she sat down to draw at her table. I lived for the mark making moment when my marker hit the paper. Art has always been a part of my life. I took every possible art class I could in my teen years: advanced painting, advanced pottery, ongoing classes at the Minnetonka art center (MN) and independent learning classes at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. As a college student I stayed close and went back to MCAD to study illustration and graphic design. I now pull from those skills to illustrate and add color to evoke emotion in my pottery. I create functional pieces that explore the whimsical side of nature with an emphasis on the use of color.
After college I reunited with clay at my local community center, Edina art center in Edina, MN. where I furthered my development. I now reside in Northeast Minneapolis (in the arts district) as a full time artist. I do occasional art fairs and sell at local galleries. My pottery has been sold around the world and is in many private collections.
