Functionality, ergonomics, repetition, nature and the intrinsic characteristics of the material bring to life my porcelain work. Contrast of varied color shades, their softness and sharp edges – given by the watercolor quality of soluble salts, along with linear abstract motifs, result in a dramatic chromatic composition in contrast to the white surface of the porcelain. Porcelain, in the thinnest of its expressions, demonstrates a life of its own, moving to the heat of the firing and resulting in an imprint of its own memory. The character of my current work resides in the exploration of natural patterns and landscapes resulting from the repetition of abstract designs, with small but significant variations of shape and size. The contrast between glazed inside and unglazed outside invite you to handle each piece and discover the sensuality of the soft bare surface and translucency of the porcelain, delicate to the sight, yet strong to the touch.
