The inspiration for my work comes broadly from the natural world; gems and
minerals in particular. There are many other sources that I draw from including abstract painting, historical & current ceramics, and fiber & jewelry design. I am interested in the interplay between opposites: rough vs refined, coarse vs smooth, matte vs gloss. I am attracted to the organic shapes and unexpected colors of the earth. I adore color, especially rich jewel tones and unexpected combinations.
My pots celebrate the relationships between form, color, balance, tension,
texture, and function. My goal is to tap into a unique aesthetic. It is a quest to draw from inspiration and create something that is fresh and authentic.
