My work represents my interpretation of the Wheel of Dharma; my path
through life. Everything I do is my practice; breathing, working, walking,
making. I choose porcelain to reinterpret thoughts on life, work and the surrounding world. Porcelain is hypnotic for me - with its ethereal
translucency, its strength and fragility, It transports me to that meditative
space where there is no time or space.
My pieces are minimal, fine and very quiet. They are a continual exercise in
form, function, design and simplicity. While making the Yunomi, each one is
very intimate and personal. My hope is that when used by others, it allows one to be in the present moment, mindful and humble. Perhaps even raising one’s level of awareness and presence.
It has become a meditation on my interaction with my world and the everyday
experience with a vessel and its design – I create pieces that beautifully meld
into our daily lives, give us pause and help celebrate life and our shared
humanity and rituals.
