I characterize my work as “diminutive stoneware”.

I favor soft, understated glazing - influenced by the traditional pottery in Japan. I enjoy mixing glazes to achieve different blends of color and pattern.

My intention is to let my work speaks with one voice yet each individual pot expresses something unique.

Ikuko Atsumi Miklowski was born in Sapporo, Japan and came to the United States in 1995. She began to study pottery making in 1997 and quickly developed an award-winning signature style. Ikuko has traveled extensively in Japan visiting the ancient kiln sites of Imbe, Echizen, Shigaraki, and Mashiko among others.
Ikuko has received art training in the United States at Cuyahoga Community
College. Her studio is located on the 6th floor in the ArtCraft Building near downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
