The teapot was a key piece in Chris Gustin's own collection; it is one of just two from that series that he saved. The rest were acquired by the RISD Museum, the Kamm Teapot Foundation, and various private collectors. He created around 15 in total, nearly all of which were sold through the Garth Clark Gallery in NYC. This series marked a turning point for him, leading to a shift towards sculptural vases and teapots that abandoned functional considerations altogether.
